Follow Through
Commitments found in your meetings, how to edit and date them, and how they stay in step with Reminders.
Follow Through lists what was promised in your meetings: the action, who owns it, and by when. After a meeting is remembered, the on-device model reads the transcript and picks out explicit commitments. It finds the clear ones and misses some. Treat the list as a first draft and add what is missing.
While it reads, the window says how many meetings it is reading. When there is nothing, it says Nothing To Follow Through.
The window
One bar at the top searches actions, people, notes, and what was said. Beside it are three menus:
- Project narrows to one project.
- Due offers Any Time, Today, This Week, and This Month. Overdue items stay in. Undated items do not belong to a span.
- Whose offers Anyone, Me, Others, or one person by name.
Open items come first, then DONE, then ARCHIVED. Items with a date come before items without, soonest first.
Editing in place
Everything is typed over where it stands.
- Choose the action to retype it.
- Choose the owner to change it. Known names are offered as you type.
- Choose the date to open a calendar. Choose the clock to set a time. A picker also offers No due date and Anytime.
- Choose the row to open its notes. The words that were said are shown under Said.
- Choose the circle to mark an item done. Reopen brings it back.
An item you changed is left alone when its meeting is read again. An overdue date shows in red.
Each item links to its meeting, and to the moment it was said, which opens the transcript at that line. Items can wait on or be needed for another item, and those links show too. The project tag at the top right puts the item in a project.
Archive and bin
The archive box puts an item away without doing it. It moves to ARCHIVED, and Restore brings it back. The bin removes the item.
Today
Today lists the open items that are due, overdue, or undated, with a link to what is coming up.
Reminders
Settings has a To-Do List section. Keep follow-through items in step with offers Nowhere and Reminders. It starts at Nowhere. Choosing Reminders asks the Mac for access to Reminders.
- Each engagement gets its own list, named Merriweather, a dash, and the engagement.
- Your own open items go onto the list as they are found. Other people's items stay in Merriweather.
- A change made on either side reaches the other: the wording, the date, and done.
- A task you add to the list becomes an item here.
- If both sides changed an item, nothing is overwritten. A notification says so, and the item offers Keep This or Use Reminders.
An item on the list shows See in Reminders and a sync button.
If your Reminders lists sync through iCloud, those items travel by that route. Merriweather does not control it.
